Q:
How to push a new branch with commit history to GitHub?
I created a new branch on my github page and didn't merge it into master yet. I did commit to this new branch, but now I want to push this branch and its commit history to the remote repo on github. I tried git push but it says "Already up to date." I also tried git push -u origin master and it says "Everything up-to-date"
A:
Do the following:
Make sure that you have a remote repo configured on the master branch of your github repository. It should be configured in your.git/config file as something like the following:
[remote "origin"]
url =
fetch = :refs/heads/master
Do a git push -u origin master (with the optional refspec master) to push the be359ba680
